Crucifixion

As you continue on your bible adventure to the crucifixion scene – a theatrical staged performance. The scene will be dimly lit. You see a large curtain with a slide presentation with a narration explaining Jesus carrying the cross, Christ falls, Simon helping.

The narration and slide presentation ends and all the lights go out, you find yourself in complete darkness and you hear the distinct sound of a hammer hitting against metal, the agonizing screams of a man penetrate your head and the sound becomes louder and LOUDER, CLANG….CLANG…CLANG….The curtain opens. Still submerged in partial darkness you can faintly make out something erected before you, and the constant clanging of the hammer still rings in your ears, suddenly three lights come on shining onto 3 erected crosses, on the left and right, 2 thieves are nailed to their crosses, in the center our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In front of the crosses are Roman soldiers. Mary and several other people are also there. Jesus has been nailed to the cross and a crown of thorns adorns his head, blood falls from His nail wounds and the crown around His head.

The Soldiers gamble for His garments and mock Him. Jesus says, "Father, forgive them, they know not what they do"

To the thief that believes Jesus says, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise" Looking into the eyes of Mary, His mother, He says, "Woman, behold your son!" and to grief-stricken John He says, "Behold your mother!" Jesus cries out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is, My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? "After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said,

'I thirst! Then, in a tone possibly little more than a whisper, He declares, "It is finished!" Mary Cries and reaches for her Son as He presses His body against the nails and says, "Father, into Your hands I commend My spirit" At that point, you see the sun blot out and darkness fbegins to shadow the room, as Jesus gives up his spirit, an earthquake shakes and you feel the ground beneath your feet tremble. You see the walls on either side of the room begin to turn and you see what was once buildings and rock reveal what was the dead buried within the walls and the earth have now come to life! As the ground continues to tremble and darkness has almost consumed the land you see the centurion and those with him, that were guarding Jesus, fall to their knees and they feel the earthquake and have seen the things that have happened, they are consumed with fear and say. 'Truly this was the Son of God!'"

Curtain Closes.
