Moses and the Ten Commandments

As you continue on your holy bible adventure to the Ten Commandments – a staged theatrical performance, you enter into a dimly lit room again. You see a large curtain. A slide presentation appears on the curtain before you with the story of Moses' journey to Mount Sinai beginning with the Israelites fleeing Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea. Moses bringing forth water from rock, Moses goes up the mountain and the making of the Golden Calf. After The presentation the lights go out and the curtain opens and performance begins. You now see Moses on the mountain with Aaron he has received a message from God. Below the sounds of cheering are heard as you see the Israelites dancing, singing and worshipping the golden calf they have built and set upon a pedestal. They worship this forbidden Idol and make sacrifices to it. Moses not knowing this and has just received the 10 Commandments from God which are inscribed on tablets of stone begins his descent from the mountain; he is greeted by Aaron who informs him of what the Israelites are doing. Moses becomes enraged as does God. Moses yells at the Israelites telling them they have broken the commandment set before them by God. "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them. He is the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before him, yet you created and worship this blasphemy!" The Israelites realize what they have done but it is too late. For now they have angered God by their actions, for they did worship the golden calf and praised and sung. The light of the sky becomes dark and ominous and a loud rumbling is heard. Moses in his anger throws down the inscribed tablets and breaks them on the ground at their feet. Another loud rumble is heard and a crack of lightning. Beneath your feet you feel the earth rumble and vibrate, smoke begins to rise from a crack in the ground, as the earth splits, opening wider, you realize that this is an earthquake, fiery red smoke billows from the crack in the earth, and the ground rumbles, lightning crashes again and thunderous booms are heard from above. The Israelites scream in fear for the punishment of God is great. The scene becomes pitch black and all you can see is a strike of lightning that heads directly towards the golden calf, a bright flash and everything goes dark and quiet.

Curtain opens, scene ends.
